The Department offers a very wide variety of language-related subjects.
The Department of Applied Languages renders training in language communication to departments in which students are trained in other career fields, but where the curricula also contain language components. Such departments may then select career-focused content for their specific courses.
Advanced language and communication techniques are offered in the first language of the student ("A-language") while basic language skills are emphasized in the second language ("B-language"), where applicable. If only one language may be taken, the course is offered at the first-language level to comply with degree requirements.
If a student's preferred first language (not necessarily the mother tongue) is not offered or his/her academic standard and proficiency in the language are questionable, or that language lacks the necessary terminology, the student will be assessed to determine in which of his/her languages he/she is most proficient. In such a case the student is advised to take the course in the best of his/her languages on offer at the time.
Language, communication and managerial skills, as well as sociological, intercultural, psychological and philosophical aspects, are fully integrated in the presentation of language material.
